Refraction, Partnership Tower, Houston, Texas

Refraction is an installation created specifically for the Partnership Tower Level 1 Lobby. Bennie Flores Ansell’s newest body of work experiments with clear acrylic bonded with Dichroic film that splits light into different wavelengths, often with two complimentary colors appearing in the projections. The bent dichroic acrylic refracts the light in varied directions. The reflections become an added layer to the double vision inherent in the Dichroic material. The light refractions on the wall subtly glow from both the artificial light and ambient natural light in the space. In this installation, Flores Ansell is creating an ephemeral photography by drawing with light.
